A basket filter is a strainer with a built-in stainless steel filter basket. The basket strainer effectivly removes solid particles from a stream. Its design allows a large flow rate. Applications include protection against debris from pumps, meters, valves, nozzles and heat exchangers.

As water flows in through the open front of the strainer, the contaminants are collected in the strainer, which is then either lifted from the container for cleaning (Model K), or purged during operation when the valve on the drain line is opened to atmospheric pressure (Models KI and KBI).
